With KBIS around the corner, this year should bring about new trends in the industry along with many new colors and designs from various companies. sees people embracing bold countertop and cabinet ideas and thinking unique is the way things are going.  Some suggestions include agate, onyx, or petrified wood as the showstopping centerpiece to the kitchen.

It’s time for homeowners to move on from using gray tones in the kitchen,” says Satsha Lopez-Jaimes, an interior designer who’s the project director of Freemodel. Instead, she recommends focusing on timeless colors that complement the home’s architecture. “Experiment with a diverse palette of tones and finishes to add a touch of playfulness to your kitchen design,” the designer told Insider.

“It’s time for homeowners to move on from using gray tones in the kitchen.”

According to Real Simple, gold finishes, green, solid surfaces as backsplashes, and quartz countertops are just some of the trends that will gain in popularity this year.  In general, warmer neutrals, lighter woods, and earth tones are growing in popularity, while stark white kitchens, gray cabinets, over-the-range microwaves, and trash compactors are on their way out.  This was after the NKBA asked hundreds of industry experts to weigh in on what will be trending.

As we ring in the new year, many companies have come out with new designs recently.  Cambria, MSI, WilsonArt, Cosentino(Silestone), Earth Stone, and Viatera are changing the landscape with their new bold approach to the quartz market.


Viatera added 12 new colors to their quartz line recently, along with launching a new porcelain collection. The Teracanto line includes 6 colors currently and more will be added sometime this year. You can find more information on both lines below:

MSI continues to be strong in the market with offering a variety of options and recently added Calacatta Elysio, Calacatta Laza Grigio, Calacatta Miraggio Seaglass, and Calacatta Lumanyx. You can find information on these designs below:
